At Trunk Tools, we’re the leading AI company revolutionizing construction, the second-largest industry on earth. We recently raised a $40M Series B led by Insight Partners, bringing our total funding to $70M from top-tier investors including Redpoint and Innovation Endeavors. This new round is fueling our next phase of growth as we scale AI agents across the jobsite.

Our mission is to build the future of construction through intelligent automation. Despite being a $13+ trillion industry, construction still runs largely on analog processes, we’re changing that by embedding AI directly into field operations.

Founded by builders and technologists (Stanford, MIT), our team has delivered software used by over 140,000 field professionals, impacting millions of users and contributing to $10B+ in built projects. Many of us come from the field ourselves, giving us a deep understanding of the industry’s unique challenges.

After years of building the “brain” of construction, we’re now launching production-ready AI agents, starting with intelligent document processing and Q&A, and rapidly expanding into core operational workflows. Our team has doubled in the past year, and with 100+ employees (50+ engineers), we’re scaling fast and entering a period of hypergrowth. This is a rare opportunity to join at an inflection point.

The role

We're hiring a Senior Recruiter II to lead our recruiting efforts and own hiring across our go-to-market and operations teams. You'll build pipelines from scratch, close top candidates, and set the bar for how we hire. You'll also own our external recruiting partnerships, getting the most out of every agency and embedded recruiter we work with.

This is a hands-on, build-it role with real ownership. You'll partner directly with our founder, leadership, and hiring managers, run efficient processes from intake to offer, and shape the systems that let us scale hiring without losing quality. We're early, so you should be comfortable with ambiguity, moving fast, and wearing multiple hats.

What you'll do

  • Lead full-cycle recruiting for go-to-market, operations, and G&A roles across Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, Operations, Finance, and People, from intake through offer and close.

  • Own our external recruiting partnerships. Source, negotiate, and manage agencies and embedded recruiters, hold them to clear expectations and SLAs, and make the call on when to run a search in-house versus bring in outside help.

  • Set the standard for how we recruit. Coach hiring managers on best practices, run calibrated intakes, and build job descriptions, scorecards, and interview frameworks that raise the quality of every hire.

  • Build and manage high-quality candidate pipelines through sourcing, referrals, outbound outreach, networking, and creative tactics.

  • Run fast, organized processes. Coordinate virtual and onsite interviews, keep candidates and interviewers moving, and protect a strong candidate experience at every step.

  • Own our ATS (we use Ashby). Keep data clean, build reporting on pipeline health and funnel metrics, and use the numbers to find and fix bottlenecks.

  • Partner with Finance, People, and Leadership on headcount planning. Help translate budget into a hiring plan by team, and reprioritize searches as business needs shift.

  • Run our internal referrals program and represent Trunk Tools in outreach, at events, and in how we show up to candidates in the market.

  • Build fair, consistent, and inclusive practices into everything from sourcing to offer.

  • Keep our hiring practices compliant with applicable employment regulations.

  • Pitch in on broader People and Operations work as we grow.

What we're looking for

  • You lead. You've owned hiring end to end, set the pace for a process, and gotten the best out of agencies and outside partners.

  • You hustle. You've recruited in high-growth, fast-paced environments and you don't need a playbook to get started.

  • You're startup-minded. You thrive in ambiguity, move fast, and adapt faster.

  • You take ownership. You don't wait for permission to fix problems or move things forward.

  • You're data-driven. You use funnel metrics and pipeline data to make decisions and keep improving.

  • You're a sharp communicator. Candidates trust you, and hiring managers lean on you to connect the hiring team.

  • You care about quality. You take pride in your craft and in the teams you help build.

Requirements

  • 5 to 6 years of full-cycle recruiting, ideally at a high-growth startup.

  • Hired across go-to-market and business teams while juggling multiple searches.

  • Managed external recruiters or agencies, with the judgment to know when to use them.

  • Fluent with an ATS (we use Ashby); HRIS exposure a plus.

  • Data-driven on funnel metrics, reporting, and decisions.

  • Strong judgment on talent and team dynamics.

  • Clear communicator with solid process instincts.

  • Comfortable in a hybrid, NYC-based startup that values in-person collaboration.

  • Fluent with automation and AI tools to source smarter, speed up outreach and screening, and cut manual work.
